Gwynedd Mercy University Welcomes Cabrini University Students

As a designated Cabrini partner, we are offering an expedited admission process to provide Cabrini EdD students a smooth transition to GMercyU.

EdD students who transition to GMercyU in fall 2024 through the GMercyU-Cabrini Teach Out program will complete their remaining Cabrini requirements and can continue working with their current dissertation chair.

As a Cabrini EdD student in good standing looking to transfer for Fall 2024, GMercyU will:

• Waive the GRE or MAT
• Waive Letters of Reference
• Waive the Writing Sample

Please note: Students will be charged 2023-2024 Cabrini tuition rates and be responsible for purchasing their own textbooks and paying out of pocket if they attend the Ireland residency.

Application Requirements - Fall 2024

To apply to GMercyU’s EdD program for fall 2024, students who are actively enrolled or on leave and in good standing in Cabrini’s EdD program must provide the following materials:

• A completed application
• CV showing education and professional experience
• Official graduate transcripts, using this link
• Written statement of professional goals and research interests
• A personal interview with GMercyU’s Director of Doctoral Studies in Education, which may be conducted prior to or after submission of the above materials, at the student’s preference.
  
  • In the personal interview, the Director shall:
    
    • Discuss the student’s goals in a doctoral program and in their career
    • Explain how our program works and how it is different from others so the student can decide if it is a good fit
    • Review the student’s completed and in-process coursework
    • Determine transfer credit toward Gwynedd Mercy’s EdD program
    • Discuss the student’s progress in dissertation research.

    For Graduate Education Students

    Students who choose to transition to GMercyU in fall 2024 through the GMercyU-Cabrini Teach Out program will complete the remaining requirements of their Cabrini program and will pay the equivalent of 2023-2024 Cabrini tuition costs.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Do I have to have a certain GPA to transfer?

    Students must be in good academic standing at the end of the 2023-24 academic year to transition to an equivalent program at GMercyU for Fall 2024. As part of the Teach Out Agreement, you will complete the remaining requirements of your Cabrini degree at GMercyU.

    Will my Cabrini GPA transfer over to GMercyU?

    As part of the Teach Out Agreement for Fall 2024, your Cabrini GPA will transfer to GMercyU.

    Will GMercyU provide the same financial aid package that I have at Cabrini?

    Yes. GMercyU will match your financial aid package so that your out-of-pocket costs remain the same. For example, if you are paying $20,000 out of pocket to attend Cabrini University, you will pay $20,000 to attend GMercyU.

    Please add GMercyU to your 2024-2025 FAFSA.

    What if I never filed a FASFA?

    If you did not file a FAFSA and do not plan to file one for the 2024-2025 academic year, we will need a copy of your current Cabrini financial aid award offer letter. If your financial award letter includes your social security number, please black it out.

    What do I need to submit with my application?

    If you are applying for fall 2024, Cabrini will send us an official copy of your Cabrini University transcripts.

    How quickly will I get an admissions decision?

    Once we have received your application and your official transcripts, we will provide an admissions decisions within two weeks.

    I’m a student-athlete. Will I be able to join the same athletic team that I play on at Cabrini University?

    Our coaches will do everything they can to offer you a spot on the GMercyU team that matches your current team. Please add your name to the NCAA Division III transfer portal and send an email to the coach. GMercyU Coach Information is located here: https://gwyneddathletics.com .

    I’m in Cabrini’s Honors Program. Can I be in GMercyU’s Honors Program?

    Yes. We are happy to welcome Cabrini Honors Program students into GMercyU's Honors Program. We will align completed Cabrini Honors courses with the requirements of GMercyU's Honors Program.

    Can I live on campus at GMercyU?

    Yes, we should be able to house you in one of our three residence halls, which are just steps from our academic buildings and dining hall! In summer 2023, we completed a full renovation of Loyola Hall, and all residential students have access to lightning-fast Wi-Fi, so it’s a great time to live on campus!

    Accepted students who want to live on campus simply need to submit a Housing Application and Housing Deposit. More information and instructions will be included in your acceptance packet.

    Will you accept my ECG Credits?

    Yes. Cabrini's ECG course learning outcomes are similar to GMercyU's Signature Seminar course learning outcomes. Students who transition to GMercyU in fall 2024 as part of the Teach Out program will complete whatever credits remain within their Cabrini curriculum.
